Step 1: Detection/monitoring

Different types of detectors such as door contacts, motion detectors, infrared sensors etc. monitor your home. As soon as they detect a threat they send an alarm signal to the control panel.

Step 2: Controlling and operation

The control panel is the intelligent core of such a system and the communication interface to the outside. It collects all the information and decides which actions/steps have to be taken within milliseconds.

Step 3: Verification

In order to make sure that it is not a false alarm or a mishandling of the system the alarm signal is usually verified either electronically or by an operator.
